Overview

Whins House is an ILM biodiversity gain site in the Ribble Valley, uniquely positioned across both the Bowland Fringe and Pendle Hill and Lancashire Valleys National Character Areas.

The site delivers a broad mix of habitat types, including Wood-Pasture and Parkland, Other Neutral Grassland, Other Woodland: Broadleaved, Mixed Scrub, Ponds (Non-priority), Rural Trees and Species-rich Native Hedgerow, generating units across medium, high and very high distinctiveness categories. Wood-Pasture and Parkland is a priority habitat type under the Biodiversity Metric, making up the largest share of available units on this site.

An HMMP is in place and the legal agreement is currently being finalised. Units are available to reserve now ahead of registration on the Biodiversity Gain Site Register.

Spanning two NCAs makes this site relevant to a wider catchment of development projects across Lancashire. For information on site suitability, allocation and next steps, please enquire and the team will confirm the most appropriate route for your project.
